Things to do in Madrid, Spain – Nightlife

Il Morte Che Parla – It’s been called a “drinking den,” which is apt. There’s free popcorn and cool Day of the Dead decorations. This is one of my very favorite bars in any city, anywhere.
El Sol – a music club/venue in the Plaza Puerta del Sol area. Very gritty. Very rock and roll.

I have a soft spot for Tiki Bars, and, apparently, so do a lot of other people in Madrid. There are four! Including my favorite, Mauna Loa, Bar Hawaiiana in Plaza Santa Ana. It has Excellent grotto décor, strong, delicious drinks in giant glasses, free snacks, and modern music.
La Siega – Charming. Live music. MAGIC.
Metropolitain – A little Paris culture in Madrid! Awesome tapas. Great atmosphere. I liked it so much, I went twice.
La Escalera de Jacob – Dark and colorful. Great atmosphere. We spent a lovely couple of hours there, chatting with an interesting bartender and some locals.
Vinicola Mentridana – We stopped here on the way to Il Morte… and went back again. The tapas is free and delicious. Very relaxed bar.
La Maripepa – This bar was my official Introduction to Bulldog Gin and some new NYC friends, Tina and Rene. This area, Barrio de las Letras, is full of cool places to hang out. We also loved Jazz bar and Rock and Roll Bar.
If you travel to Madrid and stop by any of these places, leave a comment and let me know!
